Canada is ensuring multiple Job opportunities for new immigrants in 2023

Canada- the maple leaf country is popular as immigrant-friendly nation. It is evident from the fact that maple leaf country every year invites more than 400,000 new permanent residents through its key immigration programs, i.e. Express Entry, Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), etc.

Now, in last few months, Canadian government has taken various measures to ensure that the new immigrants in Canada get the ample employment opportunities. Let’s take a look at some of such measures taken in last few weeks by the government of Canada:

Ø  Helping internationally educated professionals to work in Health Sector of Canada

Canada has announced to help internationally educated professionals to work in healthcare sector of Canada. Canada’s healthcare sector is undergoing grave labour shortages, intensified by the global pandemic.

Therefore, Canada need skilled, qualified and trained workers to fill these vacancies. To address shortages, government is investing in projects, which will provide internationally educated health professionals (IEHP) the support and experience required to follow opportunities in the areas where the Canada need their skills most.

Ø  Canada is extending work permits to family members of TFWs 

Canadian Immigration Minister Sean Fraser has announced to extend work permits to family members of temporary foreign workers. As per Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), expanding work permit eligibility to family members of the primary applicant will help improve the emotional well-being, physical health and financial stability of workers by uniting the families.

Ø  Canadian Armed forces now hiring PR holders

Canada’s Armed Forces (CAF) have announced to recruit the permanent residents in Canada. The CAF has recently announced it via an Instagram post. The CAF announced that they are now hiring both Canadian citizens and permanent residents and interested applicants can now apply visiting the official website.

Ø  Canada to allow more foreign youngsters to work & travel under IEC

On December 1, 2022, immigration minster, Sean Fraser launched the 2023 International Experience Canada (IEC) Program with a 20% rise in the number of applicants. This rise would mean that almost 90,000 candidates would be able to work and travel in Canada, including French-speaking youngsters IEC is a joint program that allows youth in Canada and overseas to work and travel in each other’s countries.

  • Easy PR for Healthcare professionals

In the recent meeting with family Doctors and Healthy Pictou County at the Aberdeen Hospital, Sean Fraser- Minister of Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced changes to make it stress-free for overseas-born physicians to get Permanent Resident (PR) Visa visa in Canada.  The IRCC has announced to exempt physicians (i.e. who work in a fee-for-service model with public health authorities), from existing requirements.

  • 16 New Occupations added under new NOC system

With the application of new NOC 2021 system, 16 new occupations are now eligible to apply for Canadian PR Visa. The addition of these new NOC Occupations will make more people eligible to apply for Permanent Resident (PR) Visa, particularly the people with work experience in occupations such as, health care, construction, and transportation, etc. Furthermore, new NOC system will offer more clarity on the education, training and experience needed for a specific occupation.

  • Work Opportunities for International Students

Canada has also announced that now, international students in Canada with off-campus work authorization on their study permit will not be restricted by the 20-hour-per-week rule from November 15, 2022, until December 31, 2023. Hence, the international students in Canada can work without any 20 hours limit in 2023.

  • Increased Employment rate of Canada

As per the latest Labour Force Survey (LFS), report employment rate has increased tremendously in Canada in last few months. In fact, it was all time high recently few weeks back. The LFS- November report indicates that employment changed slightly (adding 10,000 jobs) in November, while the unemployment rate dropped by 0.1 percentage points to 5.1 percent.

In view of above-mentioned measures by the government of Canada and positive employment rate status, it’s right time for Canada immigration aspirants to prepare immigration file and apply for immigration to Canada.
