Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) changes 2018

In October last year, Alberta Government announced to make key changes in its streams w.e.f. January 2, 2018. It was said that the provincial government will simplify the process and reduce the wait time.  The AINP will also reduce the total number of AINP streams and will introduce the few new streams on January, 2018, i.e.

  • New Alberta Opportunity Stream and
  • Self-Employed Farmer Stream.

The Alberta Opportunity Stream shall replace the existing Employer-Driven Stream and Strategic Recruitment Stream.

Introduction of AINP- Express Entry aligned stream

The other key proposed change is the introduction of Alberta Express Entry stream, which was expected to be operational from January 2018, however it wasn’t to be. The new Express Entry stream will allow Alberta to nominate a limited number of suitable applicants from the Government of Canada’s Express Entry system. As of now the changes have not been made by the Alberta government, however, we may soon see the AINP changes taking place in 2018.
