IRCC invites STEM occupation candidates in latest Category-based Express Entry Draw

Canadian government opened the latest category-based Express Entry draw for STEM occupations (2024-1) category on April 11, 2024. In this special Express Entry draw, the IRCC has issued 4,500 invitations to apply for Canadian Permanent Resident (PR) Visa to candidates with experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) occupations. In this category-based EE draw, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 4,500 candidates to apply for Canadian PR Visa, who had the CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score of 491 points or above.

EE Draw Analysis

Now, after this new EE invitation round,  this year, Canada has invited total 32,475 candidates to apply for Canadian PR visa in overall 15 Express entry invitation rounds took place until date. As we predicted in our article for Express Entry draw predictions, the category-based draw has proved key for STEM occupation this time around.

The CUT OFF dropped to below 500 mark for the candidates with experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The CRS will also be relatively low for rest of the categories chosen for this year’s category-based express entry draws, i.e.

• A strong French language proficiency or
• Work experience in one of the below fields:
  • healthcare
  • science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions
  • trades, such as carpenters, plumbers and contractors
  • transport
  • agriculture and Agri-food
