Canada invites 3,000 candidates in latest Express Entry draw for CEC category

The Immigration Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is now opening draws for specific Express Entry categories. After opening a draw for PNP category on 30th May, on very next day, i.e. 31st May 2024, the IRCC has conducted the first draw for Canadian Experience Class (CEC) category of Federal Express Entry System inviting 3,000 candidates. On May 31, 2024, Canada issued 3,000 Invitation to Apply (ITAs) for Canadian Permanent Resident (PR) Visa to the Express Entry- CEC category candidates who had Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) Score of 522 or higher.

EE Draw Analysis

Including this new EE draw, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residence to a total of 41,955 candidates through the Express Entry system in 19 draws conducted so far in 2024.

While the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score needed for this Canadian Experience Class (CEC)-specific draw was higher than usual, we can expect the CRS cut-off to decrease again for future category-based Express Entry draws. Here's a look at the categories targeted for these draws in 2024:

• A strong French language proficiency or
• Work experience in one of the below fields:
  • healthcare
  • science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions
  • trades, such as carpenters, plumbers and contractors
  • transport
  • agriculture and Agri-food
