Australia: Subclass 485 Visa Applicants need Occupation Nomination & Skill Assessment from 1 July 2023

Are you a student looking to study and post study work opportunities in Australia. If so, here is an important update for you. The applicants planning to apply for a Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485), must take a  note that some of the requirements are changing. Find out the details of this latest update.

Requirement of Occupation Nomination & Skill Assessment 

If you apply for an Australian Visa Subclass 485 in the Graduate Work stream on or after 1 July 2023, you will need to show the following: 

• You have a qualification relevant to an occupation on the skilled occupation list, and 

• You have applied for a skills assessment in your nominated occupation on the skilled occupation list. 

Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) -Graduate Work stream 

This particular visa is for the foreign students in Australia who have newly graduated with skills and qualifications that are relevant to particular occupations Australia require. It allows you to live, study and work in Australia on a temporary basis. 

Updated requirement for Subclass 485 Visa 

Find below the updated requirement for Subclass 485 visa applicable from 1 July 2023: 

• be under 50 years of age
• hold an eligible visa
• have held a student visa in the last 6 months
• have a qualification relevant to an occupation on the skilled occupation list (Note: this requirement only applies to new applications lodged on or after 1 July 2023)
• have applied for a skills assessment in your nominated occupation on the skilled occupation list (Note: this requirement only applies to new applications lodged on or after 1 July 2023)
• provide evidence of adequate health insurance for all applicants when you apply
• provide evidence you have applied for an AFP check when you apply
• provide evidence of the required level of English with the application
