Manitoba has issued invitations to a new wave of skilled workers, marking the province's second draw of August and 17th of the year. The draw, held on August 21, was conducted through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), a key pathway for experienced workers to gain permanent residency in the province.
New MPNP draw
The draw focused on skilled candidates with strong work experience, high scoring results, and involvement in specific strategic recruitment initiatives. A total of 77 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) were issued under the Skilled Worker Stream, which includes both the Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas pathways.
Notably, 18 of the LAAs were sent to foreign nationals who also have a valid Express Entry profile, highlighting Manitoba's alignment with the federal immigration system. The lowest-ranked candidate to receive an invitation in this draw had a score of 612.

Targeted Invitations Under Strategic Initiatives
This draw placed a strong emphasis on candidates who had been directly invited through one of the MPNP's strategic recruitment initiatives. These initiatives are designed to help Manitoba businesses and communities address specific labor shortages by identifying candidates with in-demand skills.
| Strategic Recruitment Initiative | LAAs Issued |
| Employer Services | 6 |
| Francophone Community | 29 |
| Regional Communities | 31 |
| Ethnocultural Communities | 11 |
Candidates who met or exceeded the cut-off score but did not receive an LAA may have faced issues such as having expired language test results or failing to provide a valid invitation number for a strategic recruitment initiative.
Strategic Recruitment Initiatives
Strategic recruitment initiatives are a critical component of Manitoba's immigration strategy. They allow local employers to fill long-term vacancies and support communities in attracting talent. By partnering with the province, employers can nominate international candidates who possess the specific skills needed to meet workforce demands.
To participate, employers must meet certain eligibility criteria for their job vacancies and complete the Manitoba ABC Recruitment Process. Once approved, they can submit information about international candidates to the Employer Services division of the MPNP. Candidates must then meet a range of requirements, including age, education, language proficiency, and work experience, to be considered.
