The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development has proposed amendments that will affect the Ontario Nominee Program (OINP). These proposed amendments would align Ontario PNP with the new National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2021 system.
This system is already in use by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and Statistics Canada (StatCan) as their official classification system.
The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has already announced last year that it will implement the NOC 2021 in federal immigration program, i.e. Express Entry System in November 2022.
The implementation of NOC 2021 in Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) will affect which occupations are eligible for each OINP stream. Prospective applicants of Ontario PNP are may explore full details of the NOC 2021 system on or on the official website of Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

As of now, these proposed amendments are posted on Ontario’s Regulatory Registry for public consultation. The interested aspirants can submit the feedback on these proposed changes during the consultation period, which ends on October 21, 2022.
