Canada Targets Healthcare Professionals in Latest Express Entry Draw- Invites 2,500 Candidates

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted a targeted invitation round, extending 2,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates within the Express Entry system's Healthcare and social services category. This draw underscores Canada's strategic effort to address persistent labour shortages across its vital healthcare sector.

This category-based draw is part of IRCC’s broader strategy, which began in 2023, to select immigrants who possess specific skills or language abilities that align with Canada's economic priorities and workforce needs. The focus on healthcare professionals is a direct response to the urgent demand for nurses, doctors, and allied health workers across the country.

Analysis of Express Entry Draw 372

The specific draw required candidates to meet a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 472. This score reflects the competitive nature of the pool, even within a category-based selection process.

To qualify for consideration in this targeted pool, candidates must have submitted their Express Entry profiles prior to the established tie-breaking rule time of 11:17 p.m. Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) on May 12, 2025.

High Volume in Targeted Healthcare Draws

This marks the fifth category-based draw for Healthcare and social services professionals this year, making it the second-largest draw of its kind in 2025, issuing 2,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs). Despite only five draws, the healthcare category has already yielded nearly 10,000 ITAs, securing its spot as the third-highest volume category under Express Entry this year.

 This draw is also the fourth in a busy October, following selections for the PNP, French-language proficiency, and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Overall, IRCC has now issued 74,183 ITAs through the Express Entry system in 2025, with a primary focus on PNP, CEC, French proficiency, and priority occupation categories.
