IRCC opens 3rd Express Entry draw of the week– invites Agriculture and agri-food occupations

The Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted third Express Entry draw of this week on February 16, 2024. IT was a category-based draw wherein Canada has issued 150 ITAs (Invitations to Apply) for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) Visa to the candidates with work experience in Agriculture and agri-food occupations. In the second category-based EE draw this week, the IRCC invited 150 Agriculture and agri-food occupation candidates who had the CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score of 437 points of above.

EE Draw Analysis

This was seventh Express Entry invitation round this year and fourth one in this month only. It was also the third category based draw this year. The CUT OFF dropped understandably in all the category-based draws.

Now, in total seven EE draws opened this year until date, the IRCC has issued 15,420 ITAs (Invitations to Apply) for Canadian PR visa.

IRCC has sustained existing Categories for 2024 category-based EE Draws

In a recent statement, the Canadian immigration department, i.e. Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has confirmed its decision to maintain the six existing categories (Implemented in 2023) for category-based selection in Express Entry draws throughout 2024.

The categories sustained for this year are:

  • A strong French language proficiency or
  • Work experience in one of the below fields:
    • healthcare
    • science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions
    • trades, such as carpenters, plumbers and contractors
    • transport
    • agriculture and Agri-food

  • French language proficiency (1st Feb draw)
  • healthcare Occupations (14 Feb Draw)
