Canada has announced a new Express Entry Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw, giving another opportunity for nominated candidates to move forward with their Canadian permanent residence plans.

In the August 17, 2026 PNP draw, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 442 Invitations to Apply (ITAs). The minimum CRS score for candidates invited in this round was 760.

Canada PNP Draw Results – August 17, 2026

Program Provincial Nominee Program
Draw Date August 17, 2026
ITAs Issued 442
Minimum CRS Score 760
Rank Required 442 or above

Why Is the CRS Score 760 in a PNP Draw?

The CRS score in a PNP-specific Express Entry draw is higher because candidates who receive a provincial nomination are awarded 600 additional CRS points.

For example, a candidate with a CRS score of 160 before receiving a nomination could reach 760 after receiving the additional 600 points. The nomination can therefore make a significant difference to a candidate's ranking in the Express Entry pool.

What Does the Latest Draw Mean for Canada PR Aspirants?

The latest PNP draw demonstrates that provincial nomination remains an important pathway for skilled workers seeking Canadian permanent residence.

Candidates who may not have a strong enough CRS score for other Express Entry draws can explore provincial programs that match their occupation, education, work experience, language ability and other eligibility factors.

Each province and territory has its own immigration requirements, and meeting the criteria of one PNP stream does not automatically guarantee a nomination. Candidates should carefully assess their profile before choosing a provincial pathway.

What If You Did Not Receive an ITA?

If you were not invited in this draw, there are still ways to improve your Express Entry profile. Depending on your circumstances, you may consider:

  • Improving your English or French language test results

  • Gaining additional eligible work experience

  • Reviewing your CRS score for possible improvements

  • Exploring suitable Provincial Nominee Programs

  • Checking eligibility for category-based Express Entry draws

Keeping your Express Entry profile updated and monitoring new provincial opportunities can help you stay prepared for future draws.
