Extended Post-Graduation Work Permits Now Available for Master’s Students in Canada

Its great news for International graduates in Canada from master’s degree programs. Effective immediately, international students enrolled in master's programs lasting less than 2 years are now eligible for a 3-year post-graduation work permit (PGWP).

Knowing the potential of graduates from master’s degree programs to excel in Canada’s job market and possibly transition to PR (Permanent Resident) status, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has revised the duration of the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). This change aims to give them the opportunity to accumulate the essential Canadian work experience for their permanent residency application.

Extended Post-Graduation Work Permits Now Available

With effect from February 15, 2024, master’s degree graduates from programs lasting less than 2 years, who meet all other PGWP eligibility criteria, will be eligible for an extended 3-year post-graduation work permit.

The duration of PGWPs for programs other than master’s degrees will remain tied to the length of the study program, up to a maximum of three years.
