Australian visa for Teachers & healthcare workers now processing in 3 days

The Australian skilled Visa applications for teachers and healthcare workers are now only taking three days to process after Australian government changed the way it prioritises skilled visa applications.

A spokesperson from the Department of Home Affairs (DHA), Australia confirmed this update to SBS News that visa applications for health and education sector workers "are now being assessed in three days.”

In last few weeks, the government of Australia has announce some key measures to make immigration to Australia hassle free for the aspirants. This latest is another key measure in this list.

Faster visa processing for Teachers and healthcare workers

The Department of Home Affairs (DHA), Australia has discontinued using the Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List (PMSOL) to rank skilled visa applications as it was found outdated and not considering the critical workforce shortages visible across Australia.

The PMSOL list, first introduced in September 2020, formerly recognized 44 occupations on the broader Skilled Migration Occupation List (SMOL) to fast track amongst the COVID-19 pandemic recovery. However, use of this list discontinued from 28 October 2022.

The old PMSOL list comprised occupations, i.e. engineers, chefs, accountants, psychiatrists, programmers and pharmacists. It also included healthcare workers, but not teachers.
