New Express Entry Invitations Issued for PNP Candidates in First Draw of September

The latest round of invitations to apply (ITAs) through the Express Entry system has been announced by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). In the first Express Entry draw of this month held on September 2, 2025, total 249 ITAs were issued exclusively to candidates under Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) category, i.e. who had nomination received from a Canadian province.

To qualify for an invitation, candidates were required to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 772 and must have submitted their Express Entry profile before 7:19 p.m. UTC on August 28, 2025.

Overview of the latest EE Draw

The high cut-off score of 772 in the latest Express Entry draw is a direct result of it being a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) specific draw. Candidates who receive a provincial nomination get an additional 600 points added to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, which accounts for the high score. The draw, with only 249 invitations, indicates a highly targeted approach by IRCC to select a specific group of candidates. Find below the summary of the new EE draw:

Today's Express Entry draw is the first of September and follows a series of recent selections. These include a category-based selection for Healthcare and Social Services workers on August 19, a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on August 18, and a French language proficiency draw on August 8.

So far in 2025, IRCC has issued 56,069 ITAs through the Express Entry system. This year's draws have predominantly targeted PNP candidates, with the remaining ITAs allocated to CEC candidates, those with French-language proficiency, and individuals in other Express Entry priority occupations.
