Australia- New South Wales Skills Lists is released for financial year 2022-23

Australia state New South Wales (NSW) has released the NSW Skills List for the financial year 2022-23 with new minimum point scores and skilled work experience requirement. NSW nominate the deserving skilled workers for the key state/territory nominated visa categories.

To be eligible for NSW nomination, you need to meet the minimum point score and minimum years of work experience in your occupation's ANZSCO unit group. Find out more details.

NSW Skills List 2022-23

New South Wales invite, assess and nominate the SkillSelect Expressions of Interest (EOIs) at the ANZSCO unit group level. To qualify for NSW nomination you must be skilled in an occupation that BOTH:

  • appears within an ANZSCO unit group identified below, AND
  • is eligible for the respective visa

All occupations within ANZSCO unit groups are eligible for the respective visa. It is the responsibility of the potential migrant to make certain their occupation is eligible for the visa prior to acquiring a skills assessment from an approved an approved assessing authority, i.e. ACS, AACA, VETASSESS, etc.

Note: At now NSW skilled nomination program is open for Skilled Nominated Visa Subclass 190 only and not for Subclass 491 visa.

NSW Nomination process and invitation rounds

NSW nomination for Subclass 190 visa is very competitive, hence, the state strongly advise to consider all other migration pathways and do not depend only on NSW to get the invitation. The invitation rounds took place ongoing throughout the financial year. There are no definite dates; moreover, the state do not announce the round in advance. 

Basic eligibility requirements (Subclass 190 Visa)

To get ITA (Invitation to Apply) in NSW invitation round, you need to fulfil the basic criteria given below:

  • Visa- You need to fulfil all requirements mentioned by DHA for relevant visa subclass. 
  • Skills- Need to have experience in an occupation that is:
  • within an ANZSCO unit group identified on the NSW Skilled Nominated Skills List; AND
  • is eligible for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)
  • Residency- You must be either presently living in NSW or offshore, and have constantly done so for a minimum period of 6 months. 
  • Work experience and point score- You need to fulfil the minimum skilled work experience and point score for your unit group. These are mentioned on the NSW Skilled Nominated Skills List next to the name of your unit group.
