Canada welcomed Record 550,000 International Students in 2022- Indian Students received most Visas

Canadian government has welcomed record 551,405 international students in 2022. As per the data released by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Canada received this record-breaking number of foreign students from 184 nations, in the year 2022. Canada accepted Record number of International students in 2022

In 2022, India was the top source country for international students to Canada. Indian students received most visa approvals, i.e. 226, 450 followed by China with 52,165 student visas approved, and Philippines with 23,380 visa approvals.

The number of foreign students moved to Canada is staggering considering the fact that in 2021, 444,260 new study permits approved, i.e. an increase from the 400,600 in 2019.

Record number of students currently enrolled in Canada

As of December 31, 2022, there were total 807,750 international students holding legal study permits, which is again a record-breaking number. India tops the list again with 319,130 students currently enrolled in Canada. In fact, top 5 source countries are again the same, i.e.

• China (100,075 students)
• Philippines (32,455 students)
• France (27,135 students)
• Nigeria (21,660 students)

Canadian Provinces with most international students

Ontario holds the most number of foreign students followed by British Columbia and Quebec. Here is the list of top five Canadian provinces, which holds the most number of foreign students:

1. Ontario (411,000 students)
2. British Columbia (164,000 students)
3. Quebec (93,000 students)
4. Alberta (43,000 students)
5. Manitoba (22,000 students)
