The IRCC has now issued a total of 5,821 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) this year in three program-specific draws that took place on January 7th, 8th, and 23rd.

What is the Canadian Experience Class (CEC)?

The CEC is a pathway to permanent residence for skilled foreign workers who have gained Canadian work experience. To be eligible for the CEC, candidates must have:

  • At least one year of skilled work experience in Canada within the past three years.
  • Completed a program of study at a Canadian post-secondary institution (optional).
  • Meet the language requirements in English or French.

Last 5 Express Entry Draws

Previous Draws in January

This is the third Express Entry draw conducted by IRCC in January 2025.

  • January 7th: A Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)-specific draw invited 471 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 791.
  • January 8th: A CEC-specific draw invited 1,350 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 542.

Optimism for Lower CRS Scores in Future Draws

While the CRS cut-off for this draw was higher than the previous CEC draw, it is important to note that CRS scores can fluctuate.

  • Category-Based Draws: Draws specifically targeting candidates with certain occupations or proficiency in French often have lower CRS score requirements.
  • Ambitious Immigration Targets: The Canadian government has set ambitious immigration targets for the coming years, which may lead to more frequent draws and potentially lower CRS score requirements.
