Why IRCC did not open 2nd Express Entry draw in October 2020- Here is the answer

abc The Canada PR aspirants were eagerly waiting for the second Express Entry draw of October 2020 eagerly, however, the draw did not occur on the expected date, as per the IRCC schedule. The Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) usually hold the Express entry draws twice in a month or every two weeks.

However, this time around it held only one EE draw in October month. Well, this has lot to do with the recent express entry changes announced by the Canadian government. Let us find out more details about the same.

Latest Express Entry changes As per the latest Express entry rule change announced by the IRCC, now the candidates will get additional points for good French skills, i.e.

If you score NCLC 7 or more on all 4 French language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing), you will get:

  • 25 Extra points if you scored CLB 4 or lower in English (or you have not had an English test); or
  • 50 Extra points if you scored CLB 5 or higher on all four English skills

This will be added to the points you get for official languages.

Instructions for the registered applicants

Now, if you are wondering how these changes will affect you as a registered applicant in EE system, find out what you need to do.

Firstly, not every candidates will be affected by the new changes. If you are not proficient in French language or claimed/claiming any points for French proficiency, you do not need to do anything.

However, if you are proficient in French language and claiming points for the same as well, you need do:
  1. Log into your online Express Entry account and check your EE profile.
  2. If you update your profile, the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) will update your score. (It may take up to 24 hours for the system to update your score)

Hence, the CRS scores of all EE profiles in the pool will be updated automatically, prior to the next invitation round after the updates. This may take up to 2 weeks.
