Top Canada Immigration Updates This week- 28-10-2022

As we are heading towards the end of 2022, Canadian federal and provincial governments are quickly off the blocks in terms of releasing immigration updates and inviting the candidates to apply for PR (Permanent Residence) visa or provincial nomination, etc.

Cut off dropped in latest Express Entry draw

The IRCC held the Express Entry draw on 26 October 2022 to invite 4,750 candidates to apply for Canadian PR (Permanent Resident) Visa. The CRS score requirement dropped below 500 points, i.e. 496 points, first time this years.

IRCC Finished issuing ITAs to PGP sponsors

The IRCC (Immigration Refugees, and Citizenship Canada) has completed issuing the Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through a lottery system to sponsors of Parent and Grandparents Program (PGP) - 2022. The IRCC sent these PGP invitations between October 12 and 20, 2022. For the 2022 intake, the IRCC has sent ITAs to 23,100 candidates (randomly through a lottery system) in order to reach it’s target of accepting up to 15,000 complete applications.

Canada to adopt new NOC 2021 System

The IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada) is switching from NOC 2016 to NOC 2021 system for occupational classicisation on 16 November 2022. The existing NOC 2016, marks occupations eligible for Express Entry from Skill Level B and above. Under NOC 2021, TEER 3 and above will be eligible.

Ontario invites 642 immigration candidates

Ontario conducted the draw for 3 separate immigration streams of Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) on October 25, 2022. The OINP invited total 642 immigration candidates under Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker, Masters Graduate and PhD graduate stream.

PEI PNP Scheduled draw on 20 October

Canadian province, Prince Edward Island opened the scheduled draw of PEI PNP (Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program) on October 20, 2022. In this draw, PEI invited total 204 candidates for provincial nomination under Business Work permit and Labour and Express Entry category.

Canada Multiyear immigration Level plan 2023-25

The IRCC will release the multiyear immigration level plan of Canada for 2023-2025 most probably on November 1, 2022. The annual immigration target is likely to increase; one can say that observing the trend in last few years. For last few years, Canada is inviting over 400,000 people every year and more than one million people in three years.

Canadian citizenship to 300,000 people

In the fiscal year 2022-23, Canadian government is planning to grant citizenship to 300,000 people. The IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) memo endorses to process a total of 285,000 decisions and 300,000 new citizens by March 31, 2023.
