Saskatchewan to Remove Application intake threshold for Express Entry & OID Subcategory

Posted - 13, Feb 2020

Saskatchewan province of Canada has announced to remove the application intake threshold for key subcategories of SINP (Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program). As per the latest notification from SINP, with effect from March 3, 2020, application intake thresholds will no longer be applied for accepting new applications, except for the Farm Owner and Operator Category.

No Intake threshold for key SINP subcategories

The International Skilled Worker (ISW) -Occupation in Demand and Express Entry are two main subcategories of SINP. The intake threshold used for these two categories, determines, as to how many numbers of applications can be accepted for the separate subcategory. However, from 3rd March 2020, this threshold will not be applicable to both these key SINP subcategories.

What does it mean for an applicant of SINP?

The federal government or IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada) allocate a quota to each province for issuing nomination certificate to a certain number of applicants for Canadian permanent residency. Now, as per the general understanding, this new notification indicates that there will be no intake limit for accepting applications for SINP- Express Entry and OID subcategory as of now.

SINP- One of the best PNP to apply Canada PR this year

The government of Saskatchewan has been making the process to apply in SINP hassle-free for the applicants for quite some time now.
  • First, provincial government of Saskatchewan introduced the EOI (Expression of Interest) system for applying the OID and express entry, more like federal express entry system.
  • The province made more than 200 occupations available for both these streams of Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program.
  • And finally the removal of application intake threshold for the key streams.
This year, SINP has opened two EOI based draws in 2020 so far to issue total 542 invitations to apply for provincial nomination. The draw is expected in the month of February as well.

The EOI Process of SINP

Firstly, submit an EOI (Expression of Interest), and find place in EOI pool of eligible candidates.
  • The submitted profile will remain valid for 1 year from the date of submission.
  • Your profile will be ranked based on the information you provide in the profile.
  • Top ranking applicants will be invited to submit a complete application to the SINP through any of the periodic EOI based draws.
  • Submit complete application for provincial nomination with documents.
  • The province will assess the application and if you are selected, you will get provincial nomination certificate from Saskatchewan
