PTE Exam Update: Shorter Test from November 16, 2021

Have you heard about the upcoming improvements in PTE Academic? Yes, Pearson is reducing the PTE Academic test duration to two hours and much more. However, the Pearson team continuously analyses and monitors the test performance and questions to ensure that the updated PTE Academic test will provide the same reliable and accurate results.

The new changes will roll out from November 16, and Pearson will make sure that PTE Academic test will be the most efficient, stress-free and convenient English language test available.

Even with the new changes, offline PTE Academic test results will be accepted by all the professional bodies and universities worldwide, including over 3,000 academic institutions and countries like Canada, the UK, New Zealand and Australia for visa and immigration purposes.

A shorter timeframe for PTE Academic test

As mentioned, from November 16, Pearson is reducing PTE Academic test duration without impacting the overall test quality or scores. The new two-hour test will have all the key features of PTE Academic, including high accuracy, fast and secure results, widely recognized and accepted testing, but all this in a convenient two-hour duration, instead of three hours.

Fewer questions to attempt

The total number of questions given in the test will also decrease from 70-82 to 52-64. However, the overall test format, question types and scoring scale will remain the same; you’ll only get fewer questions to attempt.

No optional 10-minute break

Pearson has removed the 10-minute optional break so that the candidates can finish the test faster.

English test at your home

Students can also sit for the English test from their home via PTE Academic Online version. It’s a secure version that a student can take anywhere on a computer. Though the availability largely depends on the country and institution.  Also, the online test version is not still recognized for immigration purposes.
