visas default image If you are preparing to move to Australia, it’s time to gear up and apply fast as the ‘Occupation Ceiling Value’ (quota of applications) for Skilled Occupation List (SOL) - 2016-17 is going to reach the limit soon.

What is SOL of Australia?

The Skilled Occupation List (SOL) is the list of occupations, which are greatly in demand in Australia in a particular year. It gets released by DIBP (Department of Immigration and Border Protection) every year. The current SOL for 2016-17 was released on July 01, 2016. The listed occupations get capped very soon in view of huge competition for Australian visa.

Why you must apply ASAP for Occupations Listed in SOL?

The SOL occupations are highly in demand occupations in Australia and if your occupation is listed in the Skilled Occupation List, you have a great chance of securing a visa for Australia. The SOL list for 2016-17 launched in the month of July this year and within a month’s time hundreds of applicants have applied for the SOL occupations. Hence, various key occupations in the list are about the reach the maximum limit, i.e. ‘Occupation Ceiling Value’ for 2016-17.

So, if you are planning to move to Australia, apply fast for the Australian visa choosing an occupation from SOL. If you will not apply now, there is a great possibility that your occupation will be capped and you will have to wait for one year, until the new Skilled Occupation List is released.

There is no guarantee whether your Occupation will reflect in the next SOL

An occupation finds its place in the SOL, based on its current demand in Australia, which is assessed every year by DIBP. Sometimes a few other internal factors also decide whether an occupation should stay in SOL for a particular year or not. Since Skilled Occupation List gets updated every year, who knows your occupation will reflect in the SOL of next year, i.e. 2017-18 or not.

Every time the list gets updated, few occupations get removed from the list and few get added as well. Recently, the DIBP has announced to remove the Healthcare associated Occupations from the SOL of 2016-17. Hence, to avoid this situation, don’t delay your decision of migrating to Australia and apply for the visa at earliest.
