Ontario PNP starts 2020 by Issuing 242 Invitations under Express Entry Linked stream

visas default image Ontario has begun the year by issuing 242 Invitations under its one of the Express Entry linked streams. The latest draw of Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) took place on 9th January 2020 to invite candidates under the French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream.

The province yet to open the account for Human Capital Priorities (HCP) stream this year. Ontario every year invites significant number of foreign skilled workers through OINP and nominate them to IRCC for Canadian permanent residency visa.

French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream NOIs

In the latest draw the province of Ontario has issued 242 Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to the express entry candidates under French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream inviting them to apply for provincial nomination. However, not details regarding the minimum points requirement has been shared this time around. The French speaking skilled worker stream is meant for the francophone skilled worker applicants, i.e. the applicants who has proficiency in French language.

Ontario is planning to double its annual quota intake for nominations it can issue through its popular PNP, i.e. Ontario Immigrants Nominee Program (OINP). The 2019 annual nomination intake of the province of Ontario was 6,650, which is likely to increase to 13,300 by the year 2022.

Ontario's Immigration Minister, Vic Fedeli, has officially requested his new federal counterpart, Marco Mendocino to enhance the nomination quota of the province through a recently sent letter.

The PNPs are managed by the federal government or IRCC, which allows participating provinces and territories to nominate a fix number of Economic-Class immigration applicants for Canadian permanent residence every year. The PNP allocation is determined as per the program's annual admissions targets, established by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
