Ontario Makes key Changes to OINP Requirements

Ontario- the most popular Canadian province has announced some key changes to its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) requirements on December 14, 2018. Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is widely popular among the foreign skilled people seeking permanent residency in Canada. This is the reason vast number of people apply in the Ontario PNP every year. Let's find out more about the latest changes in this program.

OINP key Changes announced on 14th December

Here are the latest changes announced in Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) on 14th December, 2018:

  • TCF test by CIEP accepted for French
the Test de connaissance du français pour le Canada (TCF Canada), managed by the Centre international d'étudespédagogiques (CIEP) (For French Language only) is now accepted by OINP. The body was nominated by Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on November 7, 2018.
  • Updated Employer Form

The OINP has updated the existing Employer Form with some extra guidelines and helpful clues on how to complete the form.Moreover, the employers will now be able to employ an approved representative to manage business on their behalf with the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program in Section A of the Employer Form.

Such representative must complete and sign Section A of the form. Now on wards, an employer doesn't require to complete a separate Appointing or Cancelling a Representative form.

  • Key Changes to the Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills Stream

With effect from December 10, 2018, employers won't require to present extra supporting documents while submitting application to show that they fulfil program parameters for the In-Demand Skills Stream.

All Employer Job Offer streams (In-Demand Skills, Overseas Worker, International Student,) are now associated and need the below employer documents at the time of application:

  • Collective agreement (if the wage of the job offer is subject to a collective agreement)
  • Original signed and dated job offer
  • Employer Form
  • Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) (if the applicant is currently working for the employer on a LMIA-backed work permit).

The Ontario PNP will contact an employer directly if any other extra document is required to validate that an application meet the program parameters.

  • Explaining with respect to Authorized Representatives

The definition of an authorized representative has been amended to bring into line with the Ontario Immigration Act, 2015 (OIA). Only representatives who are sanctioned under the OIA can be employed by an applicant or employer.
