New Zealand is opening its border for all Travelers from 31 July 2022

New Zealand government is reopening applications for all visa categories, including tourist, visitor and student visas for the travellers from any part of the world from 31 July 2022.

Moreover, with the re-opening of the maritime border to foreign-flagged vessels from 31st July, Cruise ships can also enter New Zealand. Find out more.

Visa application open status

Work visa applications- Applications are open for all work visas including the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV). Partners and dependent children of work visa applicants can apply for a visa.

Student and remaining visitor visas

Applications for visitor and student visas open on 31 July 2022. The maritime border reopens on 31st July only.

COVID-19 testing and vaccination requirements

Most travellers need to fulfil COVID-19 vaccination requirements before travelling to New Zealand by air. Please note the following:

• If you do not meet the vaccination requirements, you will not be able to enter New Zealand.
• All travellers are strongly encouraged to be up-to-date with vaccinations before travelling. 
• Vaccination remains a significant tool for preventing infection and COVID-19 symptoms and reducing severe illness.

You must provide proof of vaccination to enter New Zealand if you are:

• not a New Zealand citizen or resident
• not an Australian citizen living in New Zealand
• Foreign air crew arriving in New Zealand.
