Latest update to New Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)

The Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has released the latest updates for new Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP). The AIP came into effect on January 1, 2022, replacing the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Programs (AIPP), which closed on December 31, 2021.

 

The IRCC stopped accepting AIPP applications on March 5, 2022, when the Ministerial Instructions (MIs) of this Pilot program expired. Subsequently, the IRCC began accepting the newly launch and alternate AIP applications on March 6, 2022.

Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)

The AIP is a pathway for Canadian PR visa for overseas skilled workers and international graduates from a Canadian institution, willing to work and live in one of the four Atlantic provinces of Canada, i.e.

  • New Brunswick
  • Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Nova Scotia and
  • Prince Edward Island

Who can apply to AIP?

The foreign applicants, who can economically establish in Atlantic Canada, want to reside in a province in the Atlantic region, and fulfil the entire eligibility criteria mentioned below could apply to AIP:

  • Provincial endorsement (candidates need to submit a copy of the endorsement certificate with their PR application)
  • minimum qualification requirements
  • minimum language ability requirements
  • minimum work experience in a qualifying occupation within the five years prior to the date of application, including the employment requirements for the occupation identified in the job offer, as listed in the National Occupational Classification (NOC) description
  • minimum job offer requirements

Confirmation of provincial endorsement

An Atlantic province issues an endorsement certificate to an applicant, whom it support for PR visa under the AIP based on

  • a genuine employment offer that
    • is made by a designated employer
    • represents a real labour market need
    • is not fraudulent
  • a settlement plan that responds to the settlement needs of the principal applicant and their accompanying family members as identified by an approved settlement service provider organization

Submit an application

You can submit the Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) Visa application under the Atlantic Immigration Program online or by mail to the Centralized Intake Officer (CIO) in Sydney.
