Launched in 2015 by IRCC (then CIC), Express Entry System has become one of the most popular and effective immigration programs in last few years.

How Express Entry works?

The Express Entry system is a point based system to evaluate the profile of deserving immigration aspirants and subsequently issue them Invitation to apply for permanent residency visa to move to and live in Canada on a permanent basis. It is based on six selection factors, i.e. Age, education, work experience, Language ability (English or French), Adaptability and Arranged employment. Last two are not compulsory factors. The skilled workers applicants from overseas need to score minimum 67 points in the FSW (Federal Skilled worker) category to become eligible to apply through Federal Express Entry System.

The eligible candidates find place in Express entry pool, where their profile is assessed based on CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System). The CRS assess the profile of the applicants and allocate them a point score (known as CRS Score) out of total 1200 points. The profiles which are able to achieve the pre-announced cut off marks for every draw get the invitation not apply for Canadian permanent residency from IRCC.

Key Statistics of the Express Entry 2018- year-end report

In the year 2018, close to 280,000 profiles were submitted in federal Express Entry system, i.e. 10 percent more compared to 2017. Over 195,000 profiles found eligible in the system. Moreover, about 71 percent (138, 137) of profiles didn't claim any extra points.
