IRCC surprises applicants with All-program Express Entry draw on 4 July- invites 700 candidates

The IRCC has surprised everyone with an all-program Express Entry draw opened on 4 July 2023. This draw was completely unexpected as the IRCC earlier announced that it will conduct a category-based draw on 5 July for STEM experts. Hence, this EE draw just a day before the scheduled draw, in fact, was a pleasant surprise for the applicants.

All-program EE draw on 4 July

In this unexpected EE draw, the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued total 700 ITAs (Invitations to Apply) for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) Visa. The CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score requirement in this draw was a bit high, i.e. 511 points. Now, with this latest draw, the IRCC has issued total 60,248 Invitations this year in overall 17 EE draws opened this year until date.

EE Draw Analysis

This draw from IRCC was entirely unexpected as pre-announced draw was expected take place on 5 July 2023 for STEM experts. Probably, in this draw the IRCC wanted to target the Express Entry candidates with CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score above 500 mark. This is the reason that the number of ITAs is low and CRS score is bit high compare to the Express Entry draws in last few months. In fact, it was the highest this year, as the previous high was 507 points in first EE draw this year occurred on 11th January.

Category-based draws

The good thing for the applicant is that they don’t need to bother anymore about the high CUT OFF in the EE system draws. Now, with Category-based draws, they can get the ITA (Invitation to Apply) for Canadian PR visa based on their occupation only. In category-based draws, the CRS score is relatively low compare to the regular all-program EE Draws. Here are six new categories for which applicants may be eligible in category-based Express Entry draws:

  • Healthcare
  • Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions
  • Trades, such as carpenters, plumbers, and contractors
  • Transport
  • Agriculture and agri-food
  • Strong French-language proficiency
