Canada's Express Entry system has experienced a significant increase in activity this year. IRCC has issued invitations to apply for permanent residence to over 84,874 individuals through 37 draws held until now. This reflects the country's robust economic growth and its dedication to attracting skilled workers from around the world.

What is the Canadian Experience Class (CEC)?

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is one of the three immigration programs under the Express Entry system. It is designed to attract skilled workers who have Canadian work experience. To be eligible for CEC, you must meet minimum requirements, i.e.:

• have at least 1 year of skilled work experience in Canada in the 3 years before you apply
• have gained your work experience by working in Canada while authorized to work under temporary resident status
• show that you performed:
  • the actions in the lead statement of the occupational description in the NOC
  • most of the main duties listed

How to Apply for Express Entry

If you meet the eligibility criteria for Express Entry, you can create an online profile in the Express Entry pool. Your profile will be ranked against other candidates based on your CRS score. The highest-ranked candidates will be invited to apply for permanent residence in subsequent draws.

CRS Score Expected to Drop for Upcoming Draws

The CRS score required to be eligible for Express Entry draws is expected to drop in the coming months. This is because IRCC is planning to hold more category-based draws. These draws will invite candidates with French proficiency and those who have experience in high-demand occupations.
