The draw results of federal express entry system have surprises most of the Canada PR aspirants in the first half of year 2017. With the staggering number of invited candidates this year and exceptionally low qualifying marks, express entry draw attention of every Canada immigration aspirant this year. Let look at the Express Entry Draw pattern this year.

Express Entry Draws so far in 2017

The first quarter of the year started on a pleasant note with significant reduction in qualifying marks and consequently, huge number of Canada PR invitations issued to the registered applicants in the federal express entry system.

The first quarter itself invited over 24,000 candidates for a Canada PR, which itself was a record if we compare it to the number of candidates invited in the year 2015 and 2016 in the first quarter, i.e. under 16,000 both the years.

Second quarter results

The second quarter results of the year 2017 have been even better with over 26,000 invitation issued for Canada PR. Exceptional Express Entry draw results in both the quarters of 2017 ensured that over 50,000 candidates are invited for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR).

Qualifying Marks Reduced drastically

The other key things to observe in the express entry draw results is the unprecedented reduction in qualifying marks or CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) Requirement from the IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada). Almost every express entry draw this year created a new record for lowest CRS score and consequently for the highest ever number of invitations issued for Canadian Permanent Residency.

Express Entry Changes played a vital role

A few key changes made by the IRCC in the express entry rules and process requirements had a telling affect on the favorable express entry system. These changes made several express entry applicants (having low CRS score) eligible to receive ITA (Invitation to Apply) for Canada PR.

A few of the key changes occurred in November 2016 and June 2017:

  • Additional CRS Points for sibling in Canada,
  • Additional CRS Points for French language proficiency
  • CRS Point System revised
  • ITA Validity period extended to 90 days from 60 days
  • Points for Canadian Education credentials, etc.

Expected Express Entry draw pattern in coming months

The express entry draw pattern is expected to remain positive in future in view of the recent announcements made by the Canadian Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen. As per Hussen, the annual immigration target of Canada is likely to be no less than 300,000 for the year 2018 as well. He also indicated positive immigration trend in the second half of the year 2017 as well. Hence, there are reasons to be positive for the express entry applicants looking to get ITA for Canadian Permanent Residency from Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
