In a surprised Express Entry draw opened on 20th May, the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has dropped the CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score requirement to drastically low, i.e. 397 points. This draw is for Canadian Experience Class (CEC) category candidates only. Let us find out more details.

The IRCC has issued 1,842 ITAs (Invitations to Apply) for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) Visa in this latest draw with second lowest CRS score requirement of all time (i.e. 397 points). The lowest Cut off was this year only in the 13th February Express Entry Draw.

This EE draw was a surprise in many ways. Firstly, because of the cut off falling below 400 again, and secondly the timing of the draw. This latest draw has occurred within one week of the last Express Entry draw for Canadian Experience Class (CEC), which is not common, considering fortnightly draw pattern of EE draws.

The Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has opened 18 programs-specific draws this year, with no draw inviting the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) category candidates.

Hence, if you wish to get the Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) visa in a program-specific draw only (for PNP), you must apply to a relevant Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and obtain the provincial nomination. The nomination received for Canadian PR visa from a province, adds 600 additional CRS points in your account, making you eligible for ITA (Invitation to Apply) from IRCC.
