The Canadian Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) issued nearly 3000 Invitations to Apply (ITA) for a provincial nomination for a Canadian PR visa in April 2022. This year, Canada's PNPs are considered one of the crucial pathways to applying for a Canadian Permanent Resident Visa. They are popular Canadian immigration pathways and serve as an alternate option to the federal Express Entry system.

By 2024, PNPs alone are expected to welcome over 93,000 newcomers annually as permanent residents.

Let's find out the latest Canadian PNP news and updates.

ITAs issued to PNP candidates in the latest Express Entry draw

In April, IRCC opened two PNP-specific Express Entry draws and issued 1,554 invitations to apply for a Canadian PR visa.

Moreover, Canadian Immigration Minister Sean Fraser also announced that IRCC would resume invitation rounds for Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates in early July.

Alberta PNP Draw

Alberta released the results of its Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) draw. The province issued 250 invitations on April 14 under the Alberta Express Entry stream.

British Columbia PNP Draws

In April, the British Columbia PNP held weekly draws and invited over 665 eligible BC immigration candidates to apply for provincial nominations under the EEBC (Express Entry British Columbia), SI (Skills Immigration), and the Tech streams.

Manitoba PNP Draws

Manitoba held two general MPNP draws in April, i.e., April 7 and April 22, respectively. The province issued 526 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs), out of which 76 were sent to candidates who had a valid Express Entry profile.

Also, the province opened a particular immigration measure draw for Ukrainian nationals on April 13 and issued 20 invitations.

Ontario PNP Draws

In April, Ontario issued 1,335 invitations through two OINP draws. The first one was held on April 26, in which 1,034 candidates received invitations under the Express Entry Skilled Trades stream.

The second draw was held on April 28, in which 301 candidates were invited under Ontario’s Express Entry French-Speaking Skilled Worker (FSSW) stream.

Also, the OINP launched a two-year Entrepreneur Pilot in April to help 100 immigrant entrepreneurs establish their businesses across the province outside of the Greater Toronto Area.

Prince Edward Island PNP Draws

PEI PNP draws are mostly prescheduled and held once a month. In April, PEI PNP opened a draw on April 21 and issued 141 invitations to apply for provincial nomination under Labour Impact and Express Entry streams and 11 under the Business Impact stream.
