As per the latest announcement from Canadian immigration minister, Marco E. L. Mendicino, now French-speaking and bilingual candidates will get extra points in the Express Entry system. Express Entry is the online point based immigration system of Canada, which manage the Expression of Interest (EOI) submitted by the foreign skilled workers for the Canadian permanent residency.

It is also the right thing to do to help support Francophone communities right across Canada. We will continue to attract Francophone immigrants to make sure that Francophone minority communities flourish." Target Admission of Francophones by 2023 Although, the immigration of French-speaking immigrants to Canada outside of Quebec has been growing, however, the recent data shows that existing selection tools will not be enough to reach the 4.4% target by 2023. Allocation of extra points to candidates with strong French language skills through federal Express Entry system could enhance the French-speaking immigrant admissions to the 4.4% target by 2023. The new changes will also help the bilingual candidates in the EE system to earn extra points and consequently get the ITA (Invitation to Apply) for Canadian PR visa from Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
