Canada Reinstates Express Entry PR Application Submission period to 60 days

In the latest news release announcement, the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced to restore the 60 days period for submitting the Express Entry -Permanent Residence (PR) application. This will be effective from June 29, 2021.

An Express Entry candidate need to submit the complete PR visa application along with the required documents, on receipt of the ITA (Invitation to Apply) from the IRCC.

Changes to the Express Entry ITAPeriod

Last year, when the pandemic actually started, the IRCC increase theITA (Invitation to Apply) period for submitting the application for PR Visa from 60 to 90 days. The idea was to provide clients with extra time to prepare their applications, considering the challenges they faced in obtaining the essential documentation.

However, as the maple leaf country continues to welcome more new immigrants (as planned in the multi-year immigration levels plan), returning to the 60-day timeframe will support Canadian immigration department (i.e. IRCC) in processing higher volumes of applications in an acceleratedmanner. Easing measures for the applicants, who are not able to give complete applications,in view of the effects of the pandemic remain in place.

The 90 days period still applicable to applications before 29th June 2021

The candidates, who received the ITA (Invitation to Apply) via Express Entry before June 29, 2021, will still have 90 days to submit their Canadian PR visa application.
