Canada opens fourth Express Entry draw for PNP candidates this year

On March 3, 2025, Canada conducted its latest Express Entry draw, focusing on Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates yet again. This was the 8th draw of the year, with 725 invitations to apply (ITAs) being issued. Notably, this marks the fourth PNP-specific draw out of the eight Express Entry draws held by IRCC in 2025, highlighting the program's importance in Canadian immigration.

Now, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has, in 2025, extended 18,147 invitations to apply (ITAs) via eight Express Entry draws. The distribution of these draws was as follows:

  • Four PNP-focused draws,
  • Three CEC-focused draws, and
  • One category-based draw for Francophone candidates

2025 Express Entry: IRCC's Priority Categories Revealed

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has designated its priority categories for 2025's category-based Express Entry draws. These identified categories will receive preferential treatment for Invitations to Apply (ITAs), aiming to address specific labor market needs. The priority categories are:

  • French-language proficiency
  • Healthcare and Social service occupations
  • Trades occupations
  • Education occupations

Significant changes have been made to the 2025 Express Entry categories. IRCC introduced a new 'Education' category, encompassing five specific occupations, and discontinued the 'Transport' category. Furthermore, the 'Healthcare' category has been expanded to include various social service occupations.
