This year, Canada day celebration was a little special. After two years of virtual celebrations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Canada is back with its grand Canada Day celebrations to mark its 155th anniversary.
Every year on July 1, Canada Day is celebrated with utmost zeal and enthusiasm to mark the national day of Canada. All the Canadians flaunt their red and white flags and celebrate the nation’s diversity and Canada’s welcoming reputation.
People across Canada celebrate this special day to highlight nation's ethnic, cultural, linguistic, and regional diversity, which helps make it an outward-looking and truly inclusive country.
On the occasion of Canada Day, the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, Hon. Sean Fraser, opened his heart and issued the following statement:
“On this 155th anniversary of Confederation, I wish all Canadians a very happy Canada Day. I also wish to extend a warm welcome to all those celebrating their first Canada Day as new Canadians, as well as to the thousands of Afghans and Ukrainians who have arrived over the last couple of months."
He further stated that, "One of our greatest strengths as a country is our diversity. Throughout Canadian history, newcomers have been integral to the fabric of our communities. Newcomers fuel our economy by bringing essential skills in key sectors, help advance our recovery from the pandemic by starting new businesses and support those in need by volunteering in their own communities. More than ever, they are helping build a more diverse, inclusive and prosperous Canada.
He was elated that after 2 years, on the occasion of Canada Day, the nation will host its first hybrid citizenship ceremony. All new Canadians will take their Oath at an in-person ceremony.
As part of Canada Day, a plethora of celebrations and activities were being held across Canada. People spent quality time with their loved ones and participated in various events that took place in and around their community, like Canada Day Connecting 2022 - History, People and Places (Ontario), 100 years of Canada Day in Grimsby (Ontario), 2022 Canada Day in Greater Napanee and more.
