British Columbia Launched new ‘Tech Pilot’ stream for Immigration as part of BCPNP

Posted - 31, Aug 2017

British Columbia, Canada has launched the new ‘Tech Pilot’ stream as part of its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), i.e. British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP). The BCPNP invites and selects appropriate foreign skilled workers to nominate them for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) in the province. Hence, it’s a key pathway for foreign workers to acquire PR visa in Canada.

New 'Tech Pilot' Stream of BCPNP

With the increased demand for tech professionals in the province, British Columbia is now planning to invite more and more ICT graduates from tech industry. The new ‘Tech Pilot’ BC will focus on inviting those applicants for provincial nomination, who have obtained a job offer in any of the 32 high demand occupations in the province. The provincial nomination such issued will make these applicants eligible to apply for Canadian Permanent Residency. Hence, this pilot opens a new pathway for ICT professionals and workers across the world to get PR in Canada

How Tech Pilot will work?

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) will invite the eligible applicants registered in BCPNP registration system on a weekly basis. The Tech Pilot applicants will get the advantage of speedy BCPNP processing. Meanwhile, the BCPNP will continue to invite the non-tech applicants through its other immigration streams.

Job offer required from BC

The applicants applying in BCPNP under Tech Pilot need to have a job offer from an approved British Columbia Employer. The provincial government has designed diverse categories in the registration program, based on the skills, experience and qualification of the applicants.

If you have confirmed your category as an applicant, you can register your profile online, and subsequently get a point score in the system. The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) shall launch a draw every week to issue invitations to the top ranking profiles in the technology sector to apply for nomination. Subsequently, the applicants who have received the invitation would require submitting the online application within 30 days of receiving ITA (Invitation to Apply) by BCPNP. The application fee for the online application is $700.

If your online application as an applicant is approved by the provincial authorities, you will get the nomination from the province, based on which, you can apply for Canadian Permanent Residency visa to IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada).
