Alberta Unveils Mega AAIP Draw: Over 1,400 Invitations Issued in Mid-September

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) executed its most significant period of immigration activity this year, issuing a remarkable 1,433 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) across three strategic draws held between September 12 and 19. This influx of invitations, spearheaded by the largest single draw of 2025, underscores Alberta’s aggressive campaign to attract and retain essential workers through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

The program focused on three key pathways: a massive draw for locally employed foreign workers, and two highly targeted Express Entry streams for technology professionals and law enforcement candidates.

Summary of AAIP Draws (September 12-19)

The largest single draw on September 12, targeting the Alberta Opportunity Stream, accounted for over 1,100 invitations, clearly indicating the province's priority of transitioning temporary foreign workers already established in Alberta into permanent residents. Meanwhile, the Accelerated Tech Pathway and the highly specialized Law Enforcement Pathway (for candidates with job offers from Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police members) continue to address specific, high-demand recruitment gaps. Note that candidates for the Express Entry-aligned streams must satisfy the requirements of the federal Express Entry system.

Nomination Capacity Update

As of September 26, the AAIP has nearly exhausted its initial allocation, having issued 3,983 nominations against an annual limit of 4,875. This

Earlier this month, the federal government granted Alberta an additional 1,528 nomination slots, bringing the province’s total allocation from 4,875 to 6,403. While the province’s official website currently reflects the previous allocation (seen in the table below), it is expected that updated figures will be released in the coming weeks to reflect the increase.
