South Australia Business Innovation & Investment Program Update

South Australia (SA) has released the latest update for its Business Innovation & Investment Program (BIIP). If you wish to establish a business or invest in South Australia, there are various state nominated visa options available.

These visa pathways offer various immigration streams based on your purpose of immigration to Australia, i.e. 

• You already own a business,
• Want to start a business in South Australia or
• Want to invest in the state.

Business Innovation & Investment Program Update

Here are the key program update for BIIP:

• Interim allocation of 70 nomination places: South Australia has received the limited interim allocation of 70 nomination places for Skilled & Business Migration.
• Business Innovation stream (188A): Intention to Apply (ITA) process remains open
• Entrepreneur stream (188E): Remains open with very limited places
• 188B and 188C: Investor stream (188B) and Significant Investor stream (188C) is temporary close to new applicants.

Business Innovation & Investment (Provisional) Visa Subclass 188

Subclass 188 is a state-nominated temporary residence visa designed for business owners and investors. It is the first step towards the pathway to PR. It is for business owners and investors who wish to setup a business, or invest, in state SA. This visa offers aspirants the choice of four key immigration streams:

1. Business Innovation stream: Business owners who wish to move their overseas business or establish a new business in SA
2. Investor stream: Successful investors or business owners intended to invest a minimum AUD $1,500,000 in SA for 4 years. 
3. Significant Investor stream: Individuals looking to benefit SA and invest $5 million into a complying investment for 4 years 
4. Entrepreneur stream: Individuals who have support from a selected Service Provider to undertake a complying entrepreneurial activity that is anticipated to lead to either the commercialisation of a product or service in SA or the development of a business in SA.
