26th Draw of Express Entry in 2016- Qualifying marks likely to fall again for FSW category

Posted - 06, Dec 2016

The last draw of express entry (25th draw this year) was not as per the liking of registered applicants in the system, as the CRS Score requirement or qualifying marks rocketed up to 786 points in the draw. It was one of those rare express entry draws, wherein number of invitations for Canadian permanent residency went down to qualifying marks in terms of digit or numbers.

Number of invites went down to CRS Score requirement

As already discussed, qualifying marks or CRS score requirement in the 25th draw went up to 786 points and consequently, the number of invites got reduced to 559 only. Though draw results were unexpected, however, it is not that worrying factor for the express entry applicants with CRS score around 460-470 points. There is strong chance of qualifying score requirement coming down. Let’s try to understand the possibilities in this regard.

25th draw was announced for Provincial Nominee Class candidates only

The last draw of express entry was announced for the Provincial Nominee class candidates only. This is why the qualifying marks were increased to 786 points as provincial nominee candidates get 600 additional points and ultimately they achieve the required CRS score. All the candidates invited in the 25th draw of express entry this year were under provincial nominee class. No invitation sent to the candidates under other streams, i.e. Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), FST (Federal Skilled Trades) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

We may see the next draw for other express entry streams

The IRCC (Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada) is likely to announce the next express entry draw for federal skilled worker (FSW) and other key EE streams. Moreover, in the next draw for FSW category, we may see the due decrease in the qualifying marks once again. The IRCC is already looking to achieve its annual immigration target for the year 2016 and hence, the fall in the CRS score requirement is more likely to happen. As it is, for in last few draws (except the 25th draw), we have seen the consistent fall in qualifying marks and record upsurge in the number of invitations for the Canadian permanent residency. Hence, the candidates disappointed with the last draw results, must stay positive for the upcoming draw results of the express entry before the end of year 2016.
