What is Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)?

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) is a crucial PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) of Canada run by Manitoba province in coordination with the federal government. It nominates the highly skilled and talented immigrants to IRCC (Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada) for permanent residency in Canada.

The candidates applying in MPNP are selected based on their skills, work experience, education, training, language ability, as well as the intent to settle in the province of Manitoba.

  • MPNP for Skilled Workers
  • MPNP for Business

What is Skilled Worker Stream of MPNP?

The skilled Worker Stream of MPNP has been designed for those skilled workers who have the intent to work and settle in the province of Manitoba. The Skilled Worker Stream of MPNP is based on the EOI (Expression of Interest) system. It has two basic subcategories, i.e.

  • Skilled Worker in Manitoba, and
  • Skilled Worker Overseas.

What is the process to apply in MPNP?

The process to apply in Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) can be divided in the three main steps, i.e.

  • Submit an EOI (expression of interest)
  • The high ranking candidates with ties to Manitoba will get invited to submit the application
  • After the complete assessment of profile, the MPNP will select the candidates and nominate them for PR visa to IRCC. The candidates now need to make a separate application to IRCC for PR visa.

What is Business Investor Stream of MPNP?

The MPNP for Business has been designed for those candidates, who have the intent and capability to purchase and establish a business or become partner in an existing business in Manitoba. The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program for Business is based on the EOI system, wherein the interested candidates submit the Expression of Interest in the MPNP and subsequently, the most appropriate and fitting candidates are invited to submit the application for nomination.

Is a successful applicant in MPNP required to stay permanently in Manitoba Province of Canada?

The applicants interested in applying in MPNP are required to submit the settlement plan confirming as to why and how they plan to settle in the province of Manitoba. After nomination, the province also provides the resources to the successful candidates, to help them put their plan in to action.

However, as per the Canadian law and Charter of Rights and Freedom every Canadian citizen or permanent resident is allowed to live and work anywhere in Canada. Hence, once you become the permanent resident of Canada, you are free to live and work in any province or territory of Canada.

Who is not eligible to apply to the MPNP?

As per the MPNP process, below individuals are not eligible to apply in MPNP:

  • Spouses of Canadian permanent residents and citizens
  • People who have an active immigration application with any other Canadian PNP
  • Refugee claimants, or people concerned with a federal appeal or removal process
  • Live-in Caregivers presently living in Canada
  • People who have been rejected by the MPNP within the last 6 months and who are not able to address the reason(s) for denial
  • TFW (Temporary foreign workers) presently working and residing in any other province of Canada.
