IELTS requirements for Saskatchewan Immigration Nominee Program 2018

Saskatchewan Immigration Nominee Program (SINP) is the foremost immigration program of Canada that invites immigrants under skilled worker and other categories as per the annual quota allocated by federal government. It has two main streams or categories designed for skilled workers, i.e. SINP- Occupation In-Demand sub-category and SINP- Express Entry Subcategory.

  • SINP- Occupation In-Demand sub-category

This particular category has been formed for those candidates, who have possess the skills and experience matching any of the in demand occupations in the province of Saskatchewan. The language proficiency requirement for the OID subcategory is CLB 4 (See the comparison above CLB Vs IELTS). The band score obtained through IELTS for all four language abilities, can be compared with the CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark) to find out, where a Canada PR visa applicant stands as far Canadian Language Benchmark for English proficiency is concerned.

The CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark) if we check in terms of IELTS band, it will be 3.5 (Reading), 4 (Writing), 4.5 (Listening), 4 (Speaking).

  • SINP- Express Entry Subcategory

This key stream of Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) is aligned with the Federal Express Entry System. Hence, to apply in this stream you need to have your profile registered in federal Express Entry System. Moreover, you also need to meet the basic criteria of the SINP-EE Subcategory. The English Language proficiency requirement for SINP- Express Entry Subcategory is CLB 7, since this stream is aligned with express entry system, which has CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark) 7 requirement for English proficiency.

The CLB 7 can be compared with IELTS Band 6 in all four language abilities, i.e. Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening.
