Can I get Permanent Residency in Australia after 40 years?
Well, this is the most common question asked by the aspirants of Australian visa. Department of Home Affairs, Australia follows a point based system that allocated points to the applicants based on age, education, Work experience, English proficiency, etc. factors. The applicants with top score are selected by the government through periodic invitation rounds. You need to score minimum 65 points, however, higher points than this will increase your chances of getting permanent residency in Australia after 40 years.
Since the applicants get points for the age factor, the highest points for this factor can be collected when you are between age group 25 and 33. Post this age group, the points for age factor start decreasing, although, you can still apply Australia PR if you are less than 45 years of age.
|at least 18 but less than 25 years||25|
|at least 25 but less than 33 years||30|
|at least 33 but less than 40 years||25|
|at least 40 but less than 45 years||15|
As you can see in the table above your points for age factor start decreasing after 33 years. However, you are still good if you can make up for these points
If you apply for Australia PR after 40 years of age, you need to make sure that you make up for the points you have missed for age factor. What it means is that you need to score high based on other factors, i.e.
|Selection factors||Maximum Points can be earned|
|Work Experience at least 8 years||15|
|Doctorate Degree in Education||20|
For bachelor’s degree from a recognized educational institution, you get 15 points. Since, not everyone is able to get Doctorate degree, so you can manage with 15 points and focus on other factors. Receiving the invitation to apply from the DHA (Department of Home Affairs) Australia, also depends on the demand of you occupation in the labour market of Oz.
