Will there be an Express Entry draw in December 2022?

The IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada) has not conducted any Express Entry draw this Wednesday (14-12-2022) as well.

Hence, the Canadian PR visa applicants are eagerly waiting for any official update to know the reason for delay and to confirm the date of next Express Entry draw.

Although, the IRCC has not confirmed any reason publically, however, as per CIC News, through an email, the IRCC’s spokesperson has confirmed that there have been Technical issues in the EE system just after the implementation of NOC 2021.

When will IRCC conduct next Express Entry draw?

Since, IRCC has confirmed that it is facing a glitch in the Express Entry System; this seems to be the possible cause of delay in EE draws. Now, if IRCC’s technical team is able to fix this glitch within next two weeks, we may see an Express Entry draw in December 2022 only, else, it will be held in 2023 only.

The Canadian government resumed Express Entry all-program draws on 6 July 2022 after several months (due to global pandemic). And since then it has issued 35,750 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for Canadian PR (Permanent Resident) Visa in just 11 EE draws. During this period, the IRCC has constantly been decreasing the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirement or CUT OFF and increasing the number of Invitations. In the last Express Entry draw took place on 23 November 2022, the IRCC invited 4,750 candidates.

The constant drop in CUT OFF and rise in number of ITAs is a good sign for the Express Entry applicants seeking Canadian PR visa.

Will there be Occupation based draws in 2023?

The Bill C-19 of Canada has receive the Royal Assent on June 23, 2022 and it will be most probably implemented by spring of 2023. This bill will allow IRCC to invite the overseas skilled workers based on their occupation or work experience. Although, the candidates will still need to obtain the minimum eligibility points, however, the criteria for getting ITA may not remain the same. The IRCC will hold the targeted EE draws next year, giving preference to candidates with experience in specific occupations.

As of now, Express Entry issue ITAs to candidates, based on their CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score. However, once IRCC uses new authorities for EE system, under Bill C-19, candidates will get the invitations based on their Education, Work Experience, and language abilities, etc.
