Will Canada Resume FSW Express Entry Draws in the Last Quarter of 2021?

Approximately every two weeks, IRCC conducts Express Entry Draw and invites candidates to apply for Canadian PR. So far in 2021, Canada hasn’t opened an all-program Federal Skilled Worker draw.

Before the pandemic, about half of all Express Entry candidates invited via Express Entry were Federal Skilled Workers.

However, since March 2020, the IRCC majorly targeted candidates who were most likely residing in Canada.

However, IRCC has opened an abundance of program-specific Express Entry draws for CEC and PNP candidates exclusively. Also, with program-specific draws, Canada has already surpassed its immigration level target of issuing 108,000 ITAs via Express Entry.

With Canadian borders opening and flights resuming for fully vaccinated travellers, when can we expect the Canadian government to resume all-program express entry draws once again?

Previous held Federal Skilled Worker Express Entry Draws

The last all-program EE draw where IRCC invited FSW candidates was held on December 23, 2020. Since then, the all-program draw has been on hold.

Since we are not sure when the IRCC will open its all-program draw, it is better to enter the EE pool of candidates right now. You can avoid receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) if there is a draw.

Moreover, keeping in mind EE draws’ unpredictable nature, you can make a way among the highest-ranking candidates by improving your CRS score if you have a valid profile in the EE pool.

Apart from that, with a valid EE profile, you can also get a chance to receive a notification of interest from Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). Most Canadian PNPs remained highly active throughout the pandemic and issued invitations to eligible candidates from the Express Entry pool to apply for provincial nomination.
