Western Australia has applied key Changes to State nomination Ranking System

Australian state of Western Australia (WA) has implemented some key changes to the system it uses for the issuing of invitations to apply for State nomination. Western Australia use its state nomination program to nominate the skilled and talented people for key skilled visas, i.e. Subclass 190 and Subclass 491 visa. The idea of these changes to focus more on the candidates presently residing in WA.

Updated WA ranking system for State Nomination

The WA usually issue the invitations on third Thursday of each month. The number of ITAs (Invitations to Apply) issued each month may differ depending on the number of applications processed by Western Australia Migration Services.

Selection process

Every month, WA select a set number of EOIs from SkillSelect to issue invitation to apply for State nomination. If you get the ITA, WA Migration Services will send you an email, containing an application form link for State nomination.

Find below the updated ranking system:

  1. General stream candidates will get the ranking as per the table below.

General stream

» Currently residing in Western Australia;

» currently residing in another Australian state or territory;

» highest EOI points score; and 

» oldest EOI submission date.

  1. The candidates eligible for the Graduate stream shall get the ranking as per the table below.

Graduate stream — Higher education graduates

Graduate stream — VET graduates

» Currently residing in Western Australia;

» Currently residing in Western Australia;

» currently residing in another Australian State or territory;

» currently residing in another Australian State or territory;

» completed a PhD or Masters qualification in Western Australia;

» completed a VET qualification at Advanced Diploma level in Western Australia;

» completed an Honours degree or other higher degree in Western Australia;

» completed a VET qualification at Diploma level in Western Australia;

» completed a Bachelor degree in Western Australia.

» completed a VET qualification at Certificate IV level in Western Australia

If an applicant is eligible for an invitation via multiple streams, s/he will get an invitation for each stream. However, such candidate will only be able to submit one application for State nomination through the selected stream.
