UK Launched Two Immigration Routes for Ukrainian Nationals

In response to the current Ukraine crisis, the UK government has come up with UK visa support for Ukrainian nationals. The government has launched two bespoke schemes for those Ukrainians who are away from their home.

Newly launched UK schemes for Ukrainian nationals

1. The Ukraine Family Scheme allows British citizens or those settled in the UK to sponsor their family members (immediate and extended) to come from Ukraine to the UK.
2. The Homes for Ukraine Sponsorship Scheme is for those Ukrainian nationals who don't have any family ties in the UK. Under this scheme, the Ukraine nationals and their immediate family members can come to the UK if they have an approved UK sponsor willing to accommodate them for up to six months, like an unoccupied residential self-contained unit or a spare room.

Under both immigration schemes, successful candidates will get permission to stay in the UK for up to three years. Moreover, they can also work and study and access public funds in the UK.

This means that those Ukrainian nationals who have immigration permission under the schemes mentioned above will be allowed to study without any sponsorship from an approved student sponsor.

They can apply for an ATAS (Academic Technology Approval Scheme) certificate before commencing their studies in the UK.

Temporary Measures by the UK for Ukrainian Nationals

The UK government has published a few temporary measures to support those Ukrainian nationals currently in the UK and cannot leave upon the expiration of their existing immigration permission.

Ukrainian nationals with UK work, study, or visit visas can now temporarily qualify to extend their visas or switch to different visa routes. At the same time, seasonal work visa holders may have their leave extended temporarily.
