South Australia to welcome back International Students without COVID-19 test

The Australian government has re-opened its borders for fully vaccinated international students and graduates. The seven-day quarantine requirement is no longer to be fulfilled upon arrival. Additionally, those departing to Australia on or after 18 April 2022 don't need to undergo a COVID-19 test before travelling.

Fully vaccinated international students and graduates can return to Australia without needing a travel exemption.

They need to:

  • have taken a full dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, which is recognised or approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA
  • provide vaccination status proof
  • hold a valid Student visa to travel to Australia.

Also, for inbound travel to Australia, travellers don't need a third or booster vaccine to be considered fully vaccinated.

However, if a traveller departs to Australia before 18 April 2022, they must provide a negative COVID-19 test result to transit or enter via Australia. In addition, they must provide either a negative COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) or other Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) test report or a negative Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) report.
