South Australia Skilled Migration Program update- 2021-22- Find out key measures taken

The Immigration South Australia (SA) has released a few key Skilled Migration Program updates for the program year 2021-22. The SA is on the verge of meeting its quota of 491 visas under the General Skilled Migration Program (GSM) state nomination Skilled Migration Program for the year 2021-22.

Since Skilled & Business Migration is continuing to assess applications, the demand for state nomination is likely to exceed SA annual allocation of nomination places.

Latest Skilled & Business Migration measures

To make certain that the nomination of highly skilled candidate, who can contribute to SA’s economic success and skills requirements, South Australia, Skilled & Business Migration is taking the below measures:  

• Prioritising the assessment of Subclass 190 applications
• Giving preference to the assessment of applications for applicants with a subclass 485 visa expiry date within this 2021-22 program year
• Prioritising highly skilled onshore candidates with evident work experience who are working full-time hours in their nominated occupation for a South Australian employer
• Supporting applicants seeking a subclass 491 nomination to submit Registration of Interest (ROI) applications through our Talent & Innovators Program, for consideration

The government of SA has requested from the Commonwealth Department of Home Affairs extra places under the state nomination program.  If these extra places become available, SA will provide further details regarding eligibility, etc.

The eligible candidates can apply through the Skilled & Business Migration Portal. The registered users can apply for State nomination, events and support services. Moreover, registered users can:

• View any actions required to be completed
