South Australia’s Skilled Migration Program is open for 2021-22

The Skilled Migration Program of South Australia (SA) is open for 2021-2022 State nomination applications from July 20, 2021.To apply for the state nomination and receive the ITA (Invitation to Apply), you will be required to meet the requirements of South Australia (SA) as well as the Department of Home Affairs, Australia. Nomination options

The SA provide skilled visa aspirants the opportunity to apply for a permanent or provisional (temporary) state nominated visa based on their occupation and situation. Usually,an applicant have two main visa options to apply for SA nomination, i.e.

  • Skilled Nominated Visa Subclass 190 (permanent visa)
  • Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa Subclass 491

However, in view of the global pandemic, the SA has made some changes in its policy and available visa options for onshore and offshore applicants.At now,only specific trade and health occupations are available to offshore applicants.

South Australia’s Skilled Migration Program for 2021-2022

The 2021-22 Skilled Migration Program of SA will focus on the following:    

  • Talent and Innovators Program- offering opportunities and pathways for those who can contribute to SA’s priority growth industry sectors.
  • Currently working in South Australia (including long-term residents in SA)- If an applicant is living and working in outer regional SA, or a long-term resident living and working in SA, s/he may be eligible for concessions to the skilled work experience requirements.
  • International Graduate of South Australia- The South Australia graduates need to be presently working in their nominated or closely related occupation for the last 3 months in SA (post-course completion), unless specified differently for your occupation. 
  • Offshore Registration of Interest - Critical Skills-Specific trade and health occupations are now available tooffshore applicants. You can submit a ROI (Registration of Interest) application if you fulfil the mentioned requirements for your occupation.

State Nomination Requirements

Find below the list of key state nomination requirements:

  1. Residency Requirements- While submitting your application, you are showing that you intend to live and work in South Australia with a view to long-term settlement.? 

If you are presently livingoffshore, check South Australia’s Skilled Occupation List to confirm if your occupation is available to offshore candidates. Eligible offshore candidates must submit a Registration of Interest (ROI) application.

  1. Age?-You must be under age 45 at time of nomination.  
  2. Occupation- You need to have an occupation on South Australia’s Skilled Occupation List?and meet the eligibility requirements for that occupation. 
  3. Skills Assessment?- You must have a genuine and positive General Skilled Migration skills assessment from an approved? assessing authority. Skills assessments must be for your nominated?occupation.
  4. Work experience?- You must fulfil work experience requirement listed for your occupation.
  5. English- You must meet minimum English language?requirement listed for your occupation.
  6. Points- You must fulfil minimum points requirement listed for your occupation?(including state nomination points).
  7. 8. Other basic requirements

Skilled Occupation List (SOL)

The SA Skilled Occupation List will provides you with the opportunity to assessthe specific occupation requirements. The online application system for new ROI submissions is available from 20 July 2021.
