South Australia Broadens Migration Opportunities: 128 New Occupations Added to DAMAs

South Australia's Designated Area Migration Agreements (DAMAs) have undergone significant updates, with 128 new occupations now included. These additions span various sectors such as construction, trades, agribusiness, ICT, health, education, and renewable energy.

Extension and Enhancements to Both DAMAs

Both DAMAs have been extended until June 30, 2025, with the SA Regional DAMA seeing an increase in its annual nomination ceiling from 750 to 2000 places. Importantly, pathways to permanent residency remain available for all visa holders under both agreements.

South Australia has maintained several concessions, including retaining the age concession up to 55 years, reducing the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) by 10%, and offering concessions for English proficiency and work experience.

Updates to Excluded Occupations and Skills Assessing Authority

Certain occupations like Grape Grower (121215), Actors, Dancers, and other Entertainers (211999), and Dancer or Choreographer (211112) have been excluded from the DAMAs.

The South Australian Government serves as the skills assessing authority for occupations lacking alternative assessing authorities.

Portability across DAMAs allows Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa holders nominated under one DAMA to apply for nomination under the Employer Nominated Scheme (ENS) visa (subclass 186) if eligible, under the relevant South Australian DAMA.

Two specific DAMAs are highlighted

The Adelaide City Technology and Innovation Advancement DAMA, targeting skills shortages in defence, space, and advanced manufacturing and technology industries within the Adelaide Metropolitan region, and the South Australian Regional Workforce DAMA, addressing shortages across the entire state.
